We have an interview with Rai Kamishiro up! We discuss her latest album, Cor Leonis, her evolution as a musician, coming from Japan to America, J-Pop, current anime, videogame soundtracks, and who her favorite Street Fighter character is!
Rai Kamishiro is super cool and if you aren’t compelled to want to see at Ongaku Overdrive after listening, then we need to talk. Enjoy!
We’re TEN days from Ongaku Overdrive! It’s exciting stuff! To celebrate, we are going to announce one more act to perform at the show! Joining Benjamin Briggs, Rai Kamishiro, Sci-Fried, MagiTek, Richie Branson, Emergency Pizza Party, and Adam WarRock for what will be a killer show is emerging chiptunes artist, BFunk20XX!
There aren’t too many acts around that go way out of their way to build and elevate a local music scene quite like Sci-Fried does. They are a proponent of Nerdy.FM. They’ve toured with the best and have given Geek Rock credibility. On top of that, they have received numerous accolades, including winning “Best Metal Band” in Orlando Weekly’s “Best of Orlando” in 2011 and 2012!
But who is this band, that have built their reputations by making songs about Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars, and the full spectrum of science fiction pop culture?
For this artist spotlight, we cover an emerging talent in the world of nerdcore. He started out as a producer for major record labels like Sony and Def Jam, making beats for mainstream rappers such as Rick Ross and Slim Thug. Now, he dominates a new frontier as the premiere rapper for anime, way beyond anyone out there.
As a matter of fact, he’s the first act we asked to be on Ongaku Overdrive this April 27th. He is the Otaku King, Richie Branson!
